NewBoCo’s Computer Science Development Week
Building Confidence, Curriculum, and Community in Computer Science Education
Ames, Iowa — 06/27/2025 — The New Bohemian Innovation Collaborative, Inc. (NewBoCo) is thrilled to be leading K-12 educators, from rural and urban schools throughout Iowa in the annual Computer Science Development Week. The event will be hosted on the Iowa State University campus and will equip both novice and experienced educators with the curriculum and tools to incorporate computer science into their classrooms.
“Computer science skills are in high demand across virtually every industry – from healthcare to agriculture, finance to manufacturing – not just tech companies. We cannot afford to not equip young Iowans with the skills they need both today and in the future to be successful” said Samantha Dahlby who is the NewBoCo Director of Education. “We’re proud to provide this high-quality training at a very low-cost to school districts – allowing for greater access and implementation across the state” Dahlby continued.
NewBoCo’s Computer Science Professional Development Week is largely supported by the Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA), the CSTA Iowa Chapter, and Code.org. We are grateful to our generous sponsors, including Iowa State University’s Department of Computer Science, Code.org, Sukup, Workiva, World Class Industries and Collins Aerospace, for their support throughout the week. With more than 2,200 new teachers trained since 2017, NewBoCo is increasing its impact statewide and driving toward its goal of computer science in every classroom throughout Iowa.
