Innovation EXPO, More Pitch Practices, and Launch Day Preparations: ISA Week 13

[vc_row padding_top=”0px” padding_bottom=”0px”][vc_column fade_animation_offset=”45px” width=”1/1″][text_output]This was the last full work week before Launch Day for the Iowa Startup Accelerator 2016 cohort. While all of the teams continued to build their businesses, they mainly focused on creating their Launch Day pitches.

Andy Stoll, one of the founding members of the Iowa Startup Accelerator, members from previous cohorts, mentors, and NewBoCo staff all participated in pitch practices this week. Their diverse backgrounds brought new perspectives and useful critiques to help the cohort move their pitches forward. Several of these mentors and staff members had given their own pitch for an accelerator demo day previously and could relate to where the ISA 2016 cohort was currently.

On Monday, Program Manager Molly Monk and Streamweaver CEO Keevin O’Rourke worked with an entrepreneurial marketing class at the University of Iowa. They brought their experiences from the accelerator and introduced lessons from the FOCUS Framework that the teams were trained in earlier in the program.

On Wednesday, the cohort attended the Innovation Expo hosted by the EDC. All of the teams in the cohort participated in the Entrepreneur Showcase , an event designed “to connect entrepreneurs with valuable partners and resources.” AssetRover also competed in PitchLab, a pitch competition, during the morning session of the Innovation Expo.

Over the past 13 weeks, you’ve gotten to know the Iowa Startup Accelerator 2016 Cohort. Now, come support them on Launch Day and celebrate entrepreneurship in Iowa.

This year, the Iowa Startup Accelerator is proud to host Iowa’s highest ranking governmental figures at Launch Day: Governor Terry Branstad and Lieutenant Governor Kim Reynolds.

“We are proud to take part in this celebration to highlight the efforts of the Iowa Startup Accelerator and these six Iowa-based entrepreneurs,” Branstad said. “Iowa’s entrepreneurial ecosystem is vibrant and flourishing. Iowa is an exceptional place to start a new business.”
