Seeing the impact of Girls Who Code

In April, NewBoCo wrapped up its latest 10-week session of Girls Who Code. The day featured a celebration that highlighted all the progress students made on progress, from a dance party to games — and recognition that all the girls involved were part of something special.

“I’m really passionate about getting more women in STEM,” said volunteer Tammy Haynes. “We got to tell them yes, you can do this and it’s not just something for boys.”

This video shows just how big of an impact Girls Who Code is having.

Girls Who Code Clubs are spaces where girls can join a sisterhood of supportive peers and use computer science to change the world. Students learn with adults in industry, practice new skills by completing fun and engaging projects, and build community.

NewBoCo is incredibly grateful to sponsors BAE Systems and Collins Aerospace for supporting Girls Who Code, and making sure that students have an opportunity to learn about coding and engineering.
