CoderDojo is a free, hands-on program designed for kids in kindergarten through 5th grade who are curious about STEM. Children can explore a variety of science, technology, engineering, and math-themed stations at their own pace, with friendly mentors available to help them get started. This Sessions Special Guest: Eastern Iowa Arts Academy (EIAA)

How can we connect music with STEM learning? The Eastern Iowa Arts Academy will host a station where we participate in hands-on learning using musical instruments. There are many ways in which musical and STEM concepts are not only similar but identical. If this activity resonates with students, they can learn about more ways to get involved at the Eastern Iowa Arts Academy!

About CoderDojo

CoderDojo is a free program for kids from kindergarten to 5th grade.

Children can freely explore any STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics) themed stations, with mentors available to help them get started, allowing your child to learn and explore on their own.

Popular, hands-on stations include activities like:

  • Hour of Code: Engage in self-guided activities tailored to your coding comfort level. Activities include Scratch Block Programming, live coding strategy games, and more.
  • Turing Tumble: a logic puzzle where students work to solve problems using levers and marbles. 
  • Snap Circuits: Learn basic engineering, electronics, and circuitry concepts using easy-to-connect components.
  • Microscopes: Kids can explore biology up close with a self-guided microscope with over 200 slides.
  • Drones: Kids can maneuver drones (with adult supervision) around obstacle courses.
