This training equips educators to teach Microsoft’s FarmBeats curriculum, a set of resources that introduces students to the role of technology in agriculture.
This is the workshop for you if:
FarmBeats focuses on leveraging data science, IoT (Internet of Things), and machine learning to address modern farming challenges like optimizing crop yields, managing resources, and promoting sustainability. The curriculum includes over 20 engaging, 45-minute lessons, which teachers can use as-is or adapt to meet the specific needs of their classrooms.
These lessons offer a hands-on approach to precision agriculture, helping students understand how technology can transform farming practices. The training provides educators with the knowledge and resources needed to implement this engaging curriculum and offer students real-world experiences in the growing field of agricultural technology.
The program is built around a free, curated curriculum from Microsoft and an affordable hardware kit. The kit includes micro:bits and accessories to measure soil levels, allowing students to gain practical experience with the tools used in modern agriculture. Each participant in the training will receive a starter kit ($35). Organizations can order additional materials. Please note that if you already own micro:bits, you’ll only need to purchase the Student Accessory Kits for this curriculum.
