DeltaV Code School students graduate, begin job search; NewBoCo Launch Day set for December 11

DeltaV Code School students graduate, begin job search

Cedar Rapids, IA, October 26, 2018 – DeltaV Code School, Iowa’s premier adult code school, graduated its second cohort on Friday, October 19. Graduates of DeltaV Code School undergo 20 weeks of intense instruction and projects to learn coding and modern web development.

“These students have really worked hard and have come a very long way in their developer skills as well as their soft skills,” DeltaV Code School Instructor Keith Dahlby said.  “Last year, our graduates were all hired within 60 days, and we expect the same for this year’s class.”

There are more than 4,400 open computing jobs in Iowa, but Iowa’s universities only had 364 graduates in computer science in 2016. DeltaV Code School was founded to train career changers and to help fill Iowa’s tech talent gap.

If your company is currently hiring Software Developers and would be interested in interviewing a DeltaV student, please email hire@deltavcodeschool.com and an instructor will assist in making introductions.

Two DeltaV students have recently joined NewBoCo (the nonprofit that operates DeltaV Code School) as U.S. Department of Labor Registered Software Developer Apprentices. They have begun working as Teaching Assistants for DeltaV and as developers for NewBoCode, NewBoCo’s software development team.

“A Registered Apprenticeship is a great way to hire or retain someone that wants to learn how to be a software developer and get quality instruction along with on the job training,” NewBoCo COO Aaron Horn said.

If you are interested in learning more about Software Developer Registered Apprenticeships, contact hire@deltavcodeschool.com and Horn will be happy to explain how NewBoCo can sponsor your apprenticeship.

For anyone interested in experiencing a day of coding, you can register for an upcoming DeltaV 101 course at www.deltavcodeschool.com.  There are DeltaV Code 101 courses on November 3 (Cedar Rapids), December 1 (Iowa City), and December 8 (Cedar Rapids)as well as a DeltaV Code 102 course (101 is not a prerequisite) on February 2 & 9, 2019 (Cedar Rapids).  The next four-week DeltaV Code 201 course starts on March 4, 2019 (Cedar Rapids).
