Foster officially joined the nonprofit on July 1, 2016; previously he had been a longtime Vault member as well as designing most of the NewBoCo logos with his business partner at 512 Creative. Over the last year he has recruited new members to Vault, maintained and grew the coworking community, and designed beautiful materials for NewBoCo programs.
When John joined the team, there were nine staff members. Now, NewBoCo is a team of 18. Coworkers shared their favorite memories and traits to celebrate a year of John Foster.
1. John is a magician. I’ve asked him for things that seem impossible and he makes it look easy. I love working with creative talent like John everyday.
2. I’ve never seen John get mad. Ever. He’s cool, calm, and collected regardless of the situation.
3. I love when John walks through the office with the gong every Friday to remind us that it is whiskey time. It is great that he helps us make sure to connect with everyone in the building.
4. John is such a champion for Vault and the whole community. It seems like he recruits a new member basically every week.
5. John is goofy yet committed, creative yet creates practical and effective art.
6. My favorite work memory of John is when we gave him free rein for Startup Weekend, and he came up with such a badass design for the poster. It was awesome.
7. John is also always willing to learn something new or figure something out to make Vault a better place.
8. John is fun and creative. He has great ideas, takes feedback well, and loves adding more features to being a part of the Vault community.
9. One of my favorite memories of John is when he made a logo for me. He decided to make a secondary logo for me which was a rendition of athletic underpants, since I am a “coach” and “superhero” to our Marketing Technology clients.
10. Every Friday at Whiskey Friday John brings snacks and then does the same announcement to the group and celebrates everyone’s wins. It just doesn’t feel like Whiskey Friday without it.
11. I love how creative John is and how excited he gets when a new idea pops in his brain and he is able to run with it.
12. I have admired John’s patience in navigating feedback on his work from an organization full of opinions.
13. John is a wicked talented graphic designer with a super creative mind.
14. John is always willing to teach me some of his tips and tricks when it comes to designing and navigating Adobe programs. I’m lucky to have such a great mentor and teacher.
15. John is happy to work with people and always tries to help.
16. John’s trait that makes me want to work with him is that he is passionate about his work and yet very approachable and collaborative. You can discuss a creative project with him and walk away knowing he will take it as far as possible and return with something great. All while being very easy to work with on it.
17. John is super easy-going and always a joy to work with! Not only can he whip up a sweet design in a matter of minutes, I also love watching him doodle at random. All in all, a very talented guy who cares deeply about our entrepreneurial community.[/text_output][/vc_column][/vc_row]
