CoderDojo is a free K–5 STEM program in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and managed by NewBoCo K–12 Education that encourages creativity, fosters entrepreneurship, and helps kids learn to code.
New this Week:
Starlabs is a portable observatory, with mentor Heidi Haney from Curiosity Path you’ll child will get an exploratory look at astrology.
We are excited to welcome the Mississippi River Museum for a fun interactive vertical wind tunnel that your child will have a blast finding objects to see if they float or sink.Using that knowledge, they can then design something out of paper to see if it floats or sinks in the tunnel.
Hour of Code
Learn basic engineering, electronics and circuitry concepts using Snap Circuits! Snap Circuits use easy-to-connect components to assemble electronic circuits on a simple “rows-and-columns” base grid. What you build functions just like the printed circuit boards found in most electronic products!
Please reserve your spot so that we can provide adequate support for the stations. CoderDojo is a free community event, and we look forward to supporting you as you learn more about STEM!
Are you interested in helping out? We’re always open to volunteers. Afraid you don’t have the expertise? No worries, we’ll show you everything you need to know. Join us, help the kids out, and maybe you’ll learn something too!
