This Week hear from Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival
For over 40 years, the Freedom Festival has helped to create memories for those who work, live, play, and visit Cedar Rapids and the corridor! The Freedom Festival begins each year on Flag Day, the 14th of June, and continues the three weeks leading up to and including Independence Day, the 4th of July.
Utilizing many local venues, parks, vendors, businesses, and city services, the Festival adopts a “support local” approach. While the Freedom Festival receives much support from the City of Cedar Rapids, it’s a completely separate 501(c)3 nonprofit entity.
In keeping with the Freedom Festival’s mission, we make it a priority that all of our programming is either low or no cost, to make sure that the entire community can celebrate a sense of patriotism and community, without cost being a barrier to enjoyment.
Marnie Schultz, Freedom Festivals Event and Marketing Director, is looking for feedback from the community on their likes/ dislikes about the festival, things the festival could do better, and what they’d like to see at their events in the future. The Freedom Festival organization would like to encourage people to not only attend our events but to also be advocates for our festival so we can remain a staple in the Cedar Rapids community.

About 1 Million Cups Cedar Rapids
The Kauffman Foundation developed 1 Million Cups (1MC) on the notion that entrepreneurs discover solutions and network over a million cups of coffee. We welcome early-stage businesses and established companies facing interesting challenges to present their companies. Typically, one or several representatives present before a panel of experts. They seek advice and then engage the audience in a question-and-answer session to encourage collaborative and honest conversations. We also feature expert speakers, founder fireside interviews, and explorations of business failures and the lessons learned!
The Cedar Rapids chapter is the sixth in the U.S., and events take place almost every Wednesday. Every event is free, and everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend!
Join us on Wednesdays @ 8:30 a.m. at the Geonetric Cafe. Each event features a presentation or conversation with a new founder, entrepreneur, business leader, subject matter expert, or creative. Find a list of upcoming events and presenters on our Calendar.
