As part of NewBoCo’s 10 Years of Impact celebration, we are thrilled to present a special 1 Million Cups Cedar Rapids (1MCCR) Alumni Series! Throughout the year, leading up to EntreFEST 2025, we will welcome back past 1MCCR presenters for fireside chats on the first Wednesday of the month to share their experiences, lessons, and successes since presenting.
We are excited to feature Laura Taylor, owner of Woofables, a gourmet dog biscuit business based in Coralville. Laura first presented Woofables at 1MCCR in 2015. Since then, Woofables has expanded nationwide, with their dog treats available in pet stores, grocers, farm stores, and online at Woofables.com. The business also partners with veterinarians and gift retailers, offering their products as a complementary addition to various services. During peak holiday seasons, Woofables employs up to 50 people to meet high demand.
About Laura Taylor:
Laura’s journey began in the Chicago area and led her to the University of Iowa, where she earned a BS in Sociology and an MBA. Before purchasing Woofables, she built a successful career in marketing and rose to executive and general management positions across industries such as software, photography, weddings, and education.Laura and her husband Alex live in Coralville, where they are actively involved in the community. Laura is a contributor to the United Way Community Impact Council, among other organizations. The couple has four grown children, two dogs, two cats, and a beloved grandson.

About 1 Million Cups Cedar Rapids
The Kauffman Foundation developed 1 Million Cups (1MC) on the notion that entrepreneurs discover solutions and network over a million cups of coffee. We welcome early-stage businesses and established companies facing interesting challenges to present their companies. Typically, one or several representatives present before a panel of experts. They seek advice and then engage the audience in a question-and-answer session to encourage collaborative and honest conversations. We also feature expert speakers, founder fireside interviews, and explorations of business failures and the lessons learned!
The Cedar Rapids chapter is the sixth in the U.S., Every event is free, and everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend!
