Success in
Osage School District
A case for computer science education
Osage Community School District has been a leader in expanding computer science education since joining NewBoCo’s very first Code.org cohort in 2017. That year, 36 Osage educators completed training to bring high-quality computer science instruction into their classrooms. Their commitment didn’t stop there. By 2021, every Osage student had access to computer science learning, making the district a standout example of what’s possible when educators invest early and boldly in future-ready skills.

In 2017, Osage participated in NewBoCo’s first Code.org cohort for both Computer Science Discoveries and Computer Science Principles. From there, they saw the engagement and impact students had from learning computer science, and started to expand their implementation to elementary school.
Through funding and sponsored opportunities, by 2019, Osage began focusing on computer science integration into core content areas at each grade level to provide a tighter connection for students and improve engagement in all areas.
