1 Million Cups: Woofables
July 20, 2022 from 8:45 am to 10:00 am
FreeThis Week
We’ll hear from Laura Taylor, co-founder of Iowa business staple Woofables!
In April 2004, Kathleen Potts and Lara Moore began baking and selling Woofables gourmet dog biscuits. Of course they were carefully supervised by their faithful companions and taste testers, Ruby and Oscar. In fact you can see Ruby’s image in our Logo.
In 2010, Kathleen and Lara handed their aprons over to Laura (Top Dog) and Alex (Go2Dog) Taylor who continue to maintain the highest standards for quality biscuits and best-in-show service for our pets and their owners.
Since 2010, the miracle of the internet has helped individuals, pet shops and vendors find our bakery online. And today, our made-from-scratch biscuits can be found in novelty and boutique pet shops throughout the United States.
Our staff is a terrific combination of high school and college students, and a few folks who enjoy dogs, baking treats, and decorating biscuits. Together we take great pride in our family business and we hope it shows. We’re fortunate to learn from our pets about the importance of giving back and making people happy. As a result, we are active in the community by supporting many charities, the dog parks, Goodwill Industry, and of course rescue pets and the local animal shelter. It feels good to give-back.
At Woofables you will find treats and products that are as unique and fun as each of our tail-waggin’ friends. Every batch is handmade at our bakery in Coralville, Iowa. Woofables uses only human-grade ingredients purchased locally. Our product line is always corn and soy free and we provide wheat-free treats as well.

About 1 Million Cups Cedar Rapids
The Kauffman Foundation developed 1 Million Cups (1MC) on the notion that entrepreneurs discover solutions and network over a million cups of coffee. We welcome early-stage businesses and established companies facing interesting challenges to present their companies. Typically, one or several representatives present before a panel of experts. They seek advice and then engage the audience in a question-and-answer session to encourage collaborative and honest conversations. We also feature expert speakers, founder fireside interviews, and explorations of business failures and the lessons learned!
The Cedar Rapids chapter is the sixth in the U.S., and events take place almost every Wednesday. Every event is free, and everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend!
Join us Wednesdays @ 8:45 a.m. at The Olympic Theater South Side (1202 3rd St SE #200, Cedar Rapids, IA 52401)! Each event features a presentation or conversation with a new founder, entrepreneur, business leader, subject matter expert, or creative. Find a list of upcoming events and presenters on our Calendar.
We update events as new information is available, so check the calendar often!
