NewBoCo Workiversary: Jessica Bertling

[vc_row padding_top=”0px” padding_bottom=”0px”][vc_column fade_animation_offset=”45px” width=”1/1″][text_output]On April 7, our UI/UX Developer & DeltaV Code School Instructor Jessica Bertling celebrated one year with NewBoCo.

Bertling joined the nonprofit on April 7, 2016. Over the last year, she has completed contract work through NewBoCo’s dev team “NewBoCode”, architected the design of the new NewBoCo website, and taught future developers how to code with DeltaV.

When Jessica joined the team, there were seven staff members. Now, NewBoCo is a team of 18. Coworkers shared their favorite memories and traits to celebrate a year of Jessica Bertling.

1. Working with Jess has been an absolute delight! She’s an amazing teacher, and I always appreciate her levelheadedness and patience.

2. Literally any time she laughs. It’s infectious.

3. I have enjoyed working with her on Girls Code Camp. It’s easy to work with her on project.

4. Jess is driven on quality. She is enthusiastic and brings a fresh and vibrant feel to the office.

5. Every single time the Dahlby kids arrive and shout “JESS!”

6. Every time she’s pushed beyond her current limits, she sees it as learning opportunity rather than a barrier.

7. Jess is super knowledgeable and passionate about what she does. It’s awesome that she is trying to help pass on her passion to more women and girls as well.

8. Jess is very professional and good at what she does, but you can tell she’s kind of badass too. Riding dirt bikes and the cool stuff she does with her yard are a few examples.

9.She leads DeltaV classes like a champ. She’s always wiling to jump in and help.

10. Jess has a very positive attitude and is very inclusive.

11. One of my favorite work-related memories of Jess was when she owned Tominsky in a gumbo cook-off!

12. Jess is such a badass. She works hard and plays hard. What would take people days to do, she does in minutes. Her Instagram is a total droolfest too. I’m hungry just thinking about it.

13. Goats! She already has ducks, cats, and dogs, and I’m excited for her when she has a yard big enough to sustain a team of her own goats.

14. With one of the most infectious laughs of anyone I’ve ever met, it’s always a joy to be around Jess. Jess has a fascinating lineup of hobbies and interests and is always quick to relay gardening and cooking tips (among other life-hacks!) The office wouldn’t be the same without her delightful stories and easy-going/thoughtful demeanor.

15. She is an amazing mix of nature meets technology. She’s a talented and highly skilled designer and developer as well as a plant mom, urban gardener, chef, hiker, and kayaker.[/text_output][/vc_column][/vc_row]
