Innovate at 8: Leading Innovation
May 4 @ 8:00 am - 8:45 am
Our May guest is Command Sergeant Major Brett Johnson who will share the innovative mindset he used to overcome the challenges associated with leading a military base during a pandemic.
CSM Johnson is the Garrison Command Sergeant Major of Fort Benning, Georgia. Military installations are encapsulated cities with a full range of services to be managed on a daily basis serving not only military service members, but also their families, veterans, retirees, and the civilian workforce.
CSM Johnson entered the role not too long before we were struck with a global pandemic. His background as a well-respected leader in the Elite force of the US Army’s 75th Ranger Regiment meant he knew how to lead in tough environments. And still, this environment demanded innovative, untested approaches that stretched even the toughest leaders in new ways.
Leaders from across multiple sectors can relate. What made us successful in our roles to date wasn’t a direct translation to being successful in leading an organization of any size in a pandemic environment. It required new thinking, innovative thinking.
We are going to unpack a few of the experiences in innovation this senior leader in the US Army moved through that may help you navigate your next crisis and the next version of leading as an innovative leader.
WHAT IS INNOVATE AT 8?
Innovation, innovation, innovation…everyone says it, but what does it really look like in action?
We think we can help. I mean we are the New Bohemian INNOVATION collaborative (yes, that is what NewBoCo is short for!).
Each month, we host a 45-minute session where an innovator shares their innovative tool kit, innovation journey, or opportunity for innovation with you!
yeah, you! there in the audience! We want you there!
You walk away with innovation inspiration, we get to share super cool people, ideas and techniques with you…yes we are geeking out on innovation.
This is for you IF:
- You are inspired by other’s stories of how they did “it” (not that “it”…)
- You are a lifelong learner type (we see you, we are you)
- You have ideas of your own about how to change the world and want to connect with other world-changing idea party people
