1 Million Cups: Mayoral Forum
September 22, 2021 @ 8:00 am - 10:00 am

This Week
Join Jennifer Murphy, NewBoCo Director of Innovation, as she facilitates a conversation about entrepreneurship, innovation, and tech education among Cedar Rapids mayoral candidates Amara Andrews, Myra Colby Bradwell, Brad Hart, and Tiffany O’Donnell! Community members will be given the opportunity to ask questions of the candidates through an online form (soon to be released). In the interests of time and fairness, questions will be selected from the form responses and presented to each of the candidates to answer.
The candidates have each been invited to join the attendees for the coffee & conversation portion of the program, as well. Take the opportunity to get to know the candidates a little better individually or ask a question that you did not submit to the form. The morning will prove a powerful opportunity to gain insights into the candidates’ positions and aspirations!
8:00am – doors open, coffee & conversation
8:30 – 9:30am – program
9:30 – 10am – Q&A (curated questions gathered before the event begins)
NewBoCo is a 501c3 non-profit focused on making our state more resilient to a changing economy by supporting entrepreneurship, innovation and tech education. About 1 Million Cups Cedar Rapids
Developed by the Kauffman Foundation, 1 Million Cups (1MC) is based on the notion that entrepreneurs discover solutions and network over a million cups of coffee. Early-stage businesses and established companies facing interesting challenges are welcome to present their companies to a panel of experts for advice and engage the audience in a question-and-answer session to encourage collaborative and honest conversations. We also feature expert speakers, founder fireside interviews, and exploration of business failures and the shared learning that comes from those failures.
The Cedar Rapids chapter was the sixth in the U.S. and takes place almost every Wednesday. Every event is free, and everyone is welcome and invited to attend!
Join us Wednesdays @ 9 a.m. at The Olympic Theater South Side (1202 3rd St SE #200, Cedar Rapids, IA 52401)! Each event will involve a presentation or conversation with a new founder, entrepreneur, business leader, subject matter expert, or creative. A list of upcoming events and presenters can be found on our Events Calendar.
Check our calendar often! The process to find and select presenters is an ongoing one, so events will be updated as new information is available.
