NewBoCo Workiversary: Frank Camp

[vc_row padding_top=”0px” padding_bottom=”0px”][vc_column fade_animation_offset=”45px” width=”1/1″][text_output]On April 5, our General Counsel Frank Camp celebrated one year with NewBoCo.

Camp joined the nonprofit on April 5, 2016. Over the last year, he has led NewBoCo’s legal work, including but not limited to filing trademarks, investment deals, contracts, and more.

When Frank joined the team, there were six staff members. Now, NewBoCo is a team of 18 (yep, we’ve tripled in size in a year). Coworkers shared their favorite memories and traits to celebrate a year of Frank Camp.

1. Frank cares a lot about this community. He was out every day sandbagging during flood prep, he works with another nonprofit that provides free immigration legal services, and he was absolutely giddy when he met Bill Clinton at Brewhemia.

2. He is very good-natured. There hasn’t been a day when he’s been in a bad mood or not been able to help with any task that gets thrown on his plate, even when he already has a lot of work.

3. He’s easy going and will tell us “no, you can’t do that,” but always with a smile.

4. I love working with Frank because he’s always happy to go with the flow despite being known as the grumpy old lawyer. Plus he gave us an excuse to break out our old show choir skills to celebrate his birthday.

5. I think Frank is funny. He makes what could be really dry conversations more fun, and he just generally cracks me up.

6. Frank and I are accidental fashion twins surprisingly often for being 30 years apart on age.

7. One of my favorite memories of Frank is the day we matched, and he was the only one to notice it until he announced it to the group.

8. Frank is the funniest lawyer I’ve ever met. Reading his blog posts makes me laugh so hard while also feeling incredibly informed.

9. When Frank was in charge of ISA Launch Day photo booth, he ended up whipping out all this high tech gear. This wow factor really made the photo booth something special.

10. He’s just a genuinely good guy and always ready and willing to help. He’s also meticulously detail-oriented when asked to review something even if it’s not for a project he’s working on.

11. Frank is cool, calm, and collected even in the crazy startup nonprofit world we’re working in.

12. He knows everything and is very good at helping you work through complicated problems, like how to license music.

13. Frank, of course, is very polite, helpful, and smart, but most of all I like that he quietly has a great sense of humor.

14. I’m excited to learn a lot from him. He has a story to relate to anything and everything, so you never know what he’s going to say (but it will be funny).

15. My favorite Frank trait is his diligence and willingness to tackling anything.

16. Frank is diligent, kind and always has a fun joke to share with the team. It’s hard to remember how we managed before Frank, and I think it’s safe to say we are all law-abiding citizens thanks to our stellar general council–keeping us in line since 2016!

17. Frank has too many super powers to name them all here. He’s been a lifesaver for the ISA startups and our NewBoCo team. He writes legal documents I actually want to read because I think he’ll embed some Frank-style humor in there. Read Grumpy Corporate Lawyer if you haven’t already, it’s a knee slapper.[/text_output][/vc_column][/vc_row]
