Hatchlings, 1MC Takeover, and Financial Modeling: ISA Week 6

[vc_row padding_top=”0px” padding_bottom=”0px”][vc_column fade_animation_offset=”45px” width=”1/1″][text_output]After Labor Day weekend, this week began with a Founder Fireside with Brad Dwyer, CEO of Hatchlings, a Facebook integrated gaming company. Brad shared insight on viral loops, investing, and the startup ecosystem in Iowa.

AssetRover and Hang kicked off a month of presentations by the ISA cohort at 1 Million Cups. During 1MC, the teams gave an in depth update on their progress to 50 interested and engaged members of the entrepreneurial ecosystem.[/text_output][blockquote cite=”” id=”” class=”” style=””]“It was great to share what we’ve been working on so hard with the community. The conversations afterward were really helpful and gave a new perspective.”

Hang CEO Dalton Viggers[/blockquote][text_output]1 Million Cups rotates weekly in the Creative Corridor between Iowa City and Cedar Rapids. Next week’s program will feature Girls With Ideas and AMP’d Cycles and be held in Iowa City at FilmScene.

On Thursday, ISA Mentors Cammie Greif and Tej Dhawan led a workshop on financial modeling to prepare the cohort  for financial review panels next week. In order to be successful, entrepreneurs must be financially savvy. Cammie and Tej helped the cohort begin to calculate cash burn and break even metrics and shared more of their experiences with bootstrapping.

Cammie helped talk me through my different revenue streams to simplify my path. She gave me very clear takeaways to work on so we can move forward.”

Written Apparel CEO Emily Carlson[/blockquote][text_output]45 members of the ISA mentor network are identified as having advanced finance or accounting expertise. During the financial review panels, several of these mentors will critique each teams’ financial model and provide feedback for how to improve.[/text_output][text_output]1 Million Cups Schedule
